A few principles to start with, in making your kitchen pop, are color and materials. In regards to colors, consider using bold and bright colors on cabinetry. Metal gray is popular and is seen in many contemporary kitchens . Using different materials helps, like glass for countertops. Glass is heat resistant and can be very durable, more durable than many stone options used today. Hardware materials should be mixed and matched up to create a nice flow yet to simplify things. Many believe using the same hardware throughout your home gives your home a catalog look and feel.

Storage, décor, lighting, and furniture make your kitchen stand out as well. Use glass cabinet doors or finding a vent hood that adds as storage space is ideal. Decorations shouldn’t be the classic farm animals, fruit and flowers. Be creative in choosing a theme for your kitchen. Recessed lighting is a popular choice in today’s kitchen and they come in various sizes and design options. As for flooring, use materials that will best suit your daily needs. Flooring that’s easy to clean and function is equally as important as flooring that gives your kitchen flair. Choose the right furniture items as well. A round table may suit you better and choosing a finish for your table that matches your overall kitchen’s theme. No matter what materials, colors, and designs you choose make sure your kitchen speaks to your style when making it stand out.

5. What is a Modern Kitchen?

Wednesday, August 18th, 2010 | Filed under: Modern kitchens, contemporary kitchen

We all know an old-fashioned kitchen when we see one. We recognize it more from what is missing than what is there. No fridge-door ice maker. No glass in the cabinet doors. No kitchen island with a garbage disposal in the sink and a mini-fridge under the marble counter. Old fashioned kitchens often have unfinished wood and appliances that wear the greens and oranges of the 1970s.

But what makes a modern kitchen? Is it defined by present-day technology? Do cappuccino makers, food processors, and wine chillers make a kitchen modern? Or is a kitchen style defined by the design, such as lustrous finishes, fine-detailed cabinets, high-quality countertops, and artfully designed accents?

While a modern kitchen may possess some – or all – of these features, these alone do not make a kitchen modern. A kitchen should successfully blend form and function. It should not be cluttered with unnecessary gadgets. It should look clean, even when the dishes are dirty. You should be able to move easily through the space and find just what you need exactly when you need it.

The professional designers at Today’s Kitchens can help you achieve a modern kitchen that fits your style and your budget. With so many possible themes and such a large combination of materials and finishes, Today’s Kitchens has your kitchen. Whether you prefer bright colors or muted shades of gray, we can help. Kitchens are available with wood cabinets in stunning finishes or cabinets with the sheen of glass. Choose from metal fixtures and accents or a more rustic appearance of stone. Select that cappuccino machine or perhaps a groovy green pattern in your tile. The features of your modern kitchen are waiting for you at Today’s Kitchens.

Unknown to many, remodeling a kitchen can add value to any home. There’s a good reason for this because the kitchen is said to be the center of a home. It can be compared to an engine of a car for without it the car won’t run. Without a kitchen, a home cannot be called home. A kitchen is at the heart of where most family activities/interactions take place especially if the kitchen doubles as a place where family members can dine or have refreshments from time to time. In some cases, it can also be a place where home owners receive and entertain their friends. It is also said that a kitchen is an extension of the personalities of their home owners. It’s an expression of their taste for what life has to offer. This is the reason why nowadays we have kitchen designs such as a classic kitchen, a contemporary kitchen, a traditional kitchen or a modern kitchen. In a way, a well-designed or elegant kitchen can be viewed as a status symbol as well.

Remodeling a kitchen may be a daunting task for most of us but it can be rewarding really because once the improvements have been undertaken, you can be assured that your quality of life will improve aside from the fact that it will contribute to the attractiveness and overall appeal of your home. The key to your success here relies heavily on your ability to partner with a reputable kitchen remodelling company or contractor. As you will be investing your hard-earned money, you should not only go for an experienced company but you need to have reasonable assurance that the said company can deliver according to your expectations. After all, your commitment to improve your home deserves nothing short of a similar commitment from a company who can deliver for you your dream kitchen.

Modern kitchen gadgets

Gadgets and appliances for the modern day kitchen are a must, but which gadgets and appliances should you purchase for your kitchen? We all could use items in the kitchen that save time and purchase items that make life a bit simpler in clean up and in simplifying the task of food preparation and other kitchen task that we all must do. Before, purchasing items that clutter your kitchen counters or purchasing items that sit in the garage all year long think about what you want out of your kitchen gadgets and appliances and the space you have available in your kitchen.

In regards to kitchen appliances, items you will need for your household depends on your lifestyle and on your kitchen’s design. It wouldn’t make much sense if you have a very small kitchen and a family of two to purchase a garbage compacter, a dishwasher, and a deep freezer for your kitchen. It wouldn’t make sense to crowd your countertops with a toaster, toaster oven, microwave, waffle iron, blender, and mixer either. You need space. In this case, appliances and gadgets that work for multiple purposes would be ideal. Opting for a toaster oven to work as toaster, toaster oven, and microwave would be a great decision. If you want all three, purchasing shelving for your kitchen or a stand to hold multiple items would be a great idea.

In a larger kitchen you can afford more space, but who wants so many gadgets and cords on display on their kitchen countertops. Ideally many appliances could fit and look really nice in a larger kitchen while still being able to offer you much cabinet and counter space in your kitchen with a great design layout. There is still an issue with cords and kitchen gadgets lying around that aren’t used so often. In this case a kitchen pantry purchased as a stand alone or remodeling your kitchen to have a larger pantry would be ideal.

Shopping around for new kitchen countertops can be intimidating if you’re not sure what you want from your kitchen; a modern, contemporary, or transitional kitchen. Not only do you have to decide how you want your kitchen counters to appear to the eye matching your countertops to your cabinetry and choosing the proper materials that suit you best but you need to make sure they will be functional in regards to the space your kitchen offers and the space you need to work comfortably in your kitchen.

My kitchen countertops need to provide plenty room for I love to cook. I need room for dicing, mixing, and to allow my family to work together on a wonderful meals that we plan to share together year after year. Not only do I need to plan for cooking big meals with my family, but I need space to decorate and I need spacious counter tops to provide a place for party trays because I cook for friends and entertain often.

My kitchen needs countertops that are of a traditional kitchen, being comforting to the soul and light in color providing a clean and fresh appearance for all to enjoy when sitting back awaiting a treat that I may have in store simmering on the stovetop for their palettes to be delighted with.

What materials will suit the kitchen of my dreams? Granite, laminate, formica or corian are different materials to choose from when it comes to adding new countertops to your kitchen. Laminate and formica aren’t suitable for my ideal kitchen. I mentioned before I entertain guest and I want a fresh and clean appearance throughout my kitchen, not that laminate and formica can’t look great. There are many elegant options that offer a comforting appeal such as granite, corian, or limestone even.

A beautiful kitchen countertop that is built to last, beautiful in appearance, and functional is what I need for my kitchen. I’m looking for a French Country kitchen appearance, soothing and comforting that is built to last years for my children to have memories in. Much to think about before you pick the best countertops for your kitchen. Knowing what you want out of your kitchen can help you narrow down the options as I have.

Importance of your kitchen

A beautiful kitchen

A beautiful kitchen

Today’s kitchen is of great importance providing families’ structure, showing our loved ones our cultures traditions, and providing each a feeling of comfort. Today my husband and I are able to show our children what are parents taught us hoping our children will take the lessons and comforting moments with them when they have their own families to share these great glories with.

My husband is from the south and he takes great pride in this. His family taught me their cooking traditions, such as collard greens, sweet potato pie, macaroni, fried chicken like no other can cook, and much more. In spending time in the kitchen I can incorporate the traditional food we cook when I was a young girl with the foods that comfort my husband. Doing so has proven to provide valuable time for my young ones in the kitchen, either be it we are making a big breakfast or peeling our collard greens for a true treat. Spending this quality time together is important, not only do I enjoy it, but they will be able to pass on these great recipes to their children.

Besides cooking together we are eating together, my father has a saying, “Families that eat together stay together.” I believe that a family eating together does provide substance in a family. When I was a young girl we ate together as a family, now that I have my own family I try to incorporate this. At times my family hasn’t eaten together and I notice the unity has changed for the better since we have incorporated this in our routine.

Remember, to teach your children the dishes of your families glory and to eat together. Today’s kitchen is of great importance provided a families ties like no other. So again, as my father would say, eat together and keep the family together creating the unity we all need and should pass down from generation to generation.

My Planet Kitchen

My Planet Kitchen

In my world, nothing is complicated. My relationships are a breeze, my job is fun, and my house is spotless. On my planet, life is pleasurable. My shoes are comfortable, my lipstick doesn’t fade, and eggs don’t stick to the pans. In my mind, elegance reigns. A t-shirt and jeans can still be fashionable. A simple pony tail can make a statement. High heels are not the quintessential element of style. Well, maybe life does not always go as I planned in my world, but I can at least have it my way with My Planet by Today’s Kitchens.

My Planet is natural, informal and contemporary – a new concept that creates your personal kitchen as you want it. Sleek and versatile, this modern kitchen design will make your dreams come true. Italian designers at Varenna created technically-evolved solutions for informal kitchen with highly efficient functions.. The result is a completely practical kitchen with convenient features and effective layout. And yet, the My Planet contemporary kitchen is elegant, chic, and stylish. It is a little black dress with stiletto heels. It is a curly up-do with red hot lipstick. It is perfection.

So my relationships may have some issues and perhaps my job is a bore. Maybe my shoes pinch my toes and my skirt is always wrinkled. At least I know that at the end of the day, I can return home to My Planet. On my planet, the pans are near the stove, the counter space is abundant, and of course, the eggs do not stick to the pans.

Modern kitchens – Renaissance Kitchen

Renaissance Kitchen

If elegance and sophistication is your style in both fashion and interior design, then the Renaissance kitchen by Wm Ohs is made for you. Elegantly carved woods; deep, satiny fabrics; bold colors are all combined to create a sensational setting for your next dinner party.

Planning is of utmost importance in order for your dinner party to progress smoothly and be a success. Resources on the Internet and at the library or bookstore should be utilized for the best outcome. Prepare your guests in advance by sending decorative invitations with all of the details, including the dress code, at least a month before the event. If there is a theme to your party, be sure to clearly describe it in the invitation.

An amuse bouche should be served first. A bit like an appetizer, an amuse bouche is more of a teaser – a bite of something extravagant that establishes the mood and flavor for the rest of the meal. Plan your courses to alternate between heavy and light – for instance potato cream soup followed by a Cesar salad. Keep the portions small, so that guests do not become too full before dessert is served.

Soft music and candlelight set the mood for a quiet, elegant meal. Choose instrumental music and keep the sound low enough that your guests’ conversation is not strained. Candles provide excellent mood lighting, but be sure that they are unscented so they do not interfere with the smells and flavors of the meal.

Your Renaissance style kitchen by Today’s Kitchens will definitely add to the atmosphere of your formal dinner party. Everyone will marvel at the ornate wood carved details and marble countertops. This classic kitchen style will make any dining experience a memorable one.
